The Convention secretariat supports the Convention and its Kyoto Protocol by a range of activities, including substantive and organizational support to meetings of the Parties. The Information and Communication Technology programme (ICT) is the central service provider for all IT infrastructure and user support services, as well as for information systems development, maintenance and application support within the UNFCCC. Where will you be working You will be working as part of the ICT Delivery sub-programme in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) programme and report to the Common Reporting Format (CRF Reporter) Software Project Manager. What will you be doing You will join an established team of software developers and be tasked with elaboration of a robust design and implementation of a complex web system designed to meet the needs of a global audience. You will have the following responsibilities 1. Analyze existing system structure and design; 2. Design software solutions for agreed requirements, and in accordance with documented architectures; 3. Actively participate in elaboration and maintenance of architectural consistency and robustness of design of the application; 4. Code, unit test and system test the assigned tasks according to the above-mentioned specification; 5. Carry out document design and implementation, participate in internal technical workshops and code reviews; 6. Perform software development and other work in accordance with priorities, processes, quality standards, code style guides applicable in the project; 7. Maintain a record of system specification and customer interactions using project management software;
 
8. Track own work in tracking software, report regularly on progress and receive advice and guidance; 9. Perform other duties as assigned. What are we looking for Educational background Required: First level university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Engineering or a related discipline Experience Required: At least three (3) years of proven progressively professional experience in programming using Java and Hibernate, designing and implementing relation database. Proven ability to write JUnit tests for integration and unit testing. Specific professional knowledge Required: Asset: Experience developing Java applications and knowledge of related Java technologies; Experience working with Maven and JMS as well as experience working with TDD in continuous integration environments; Experience in the development of the Common Reporting Format (CRF Reporter). Experience in change configuration and deployment of CRF Reporter; Knowledge and experience in JSF, HTML, Javascript and CSS. Language skills Required: Asset: Fluency in written and spoken English, Working knowledge of another UN language.
