PRACE, the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe, organizes a Winter School on Petascale Computing on February 10–13, 2009 at the training Center of the Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE Academy) in Athens, Greece.

Registration for the PRACE Winter School on Petascale Computing has been extended until the 21st January 2009. Places are limited to forty (40) students and we encourage you to register early.

The PRACE Winter School  will take place at the OTE Academy, Athens, Greece on 10-13 February 2009.

In this school we hope to give students an opportunity to gain practical experience with some of the leading technologies that will play an influential role in the shaping the petascale computing landscape over the coming years. In particular the school focuses on advanced parallel programming paradigms including MPI & OpenMP mixed-mode programming, PGAS (Partitioned Global Address Space) programming with UPC and Next-Generation HPC Programming languages (with an emphasis on Chapel language). On the final day we provide an introduction to programming the novel Cell-based cluster at the Barcelona Supercomputer Centre through presentations and hands-on exercises.

To view the full Programme and registration details please visit the Winter School Website at http://pracewinterschool.grnet.gr/

The event addresses potential users of future Petascale systems in Europe. Researchers and students from Europe and beyond will receive advanced training in programming models and optimization techniques, MPI/OpenMP hybrid programming and profiling.
