afotakel Posted August 31, 2012 Report Share Posted August 31, 2012 The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Strategy and Corporate Centre (SCC) - Information Technology Department (IT) - Finance and Lending Applications Division (FLA) - Back Office Loans, Payments and Settlements Unit (BOLP&S) at its headquarters in Luxembourg a: Java developer / Analyst Appointment to the post is for a fixed period of 5 years with the possibility of prolongation The successful candidate will develop and maintain several web-based financial applications for the treasury and the back-office The main focus will be laid on the rate setting application, which is the central tool in the pricing of all EIB loans. S/he would work in close co-operation with the treasury and external consultants. The development tasks would comprise the implementation of all necessary interfaces from the rate setting application to the in-house built pricing engine, the integration of real-time market data feeds and the modeling of workflows which are related to the origination of the loans. One of the major objectives would be to take over development tasks which were so far followed by an external company and to internalize the knowledge S/he will develop in Java using cutting edge and Open Source technologies, like JBoss, JSF, EJB and Hibernate. Accountabilities As member of a small development team, your main role is to perform the following project related tasks: Requirement analysis based on the users input, Detail the functional and technical specifications, Development in accordance with the specifications, Test of the newly functions / modules, Solve production issues and provide support to end-users, Make proposals and further improve the software and technical architecture Take project management responsibilities to deliver the solution on time and within budget. Qualifications Full University degree preferably in computer science or related disciplines At least 3 years of relevant IT professional experience, in a financial environment, preferably in loans administration or back-office treasury. Practical experience in Java, JBoss, JSF, EJB, Hibernate, Swing, Web Services, Seam, Maven 2, Sybase ASE and Linux. Fluent in English or French and a solid understanding of the other (*) Competencies Strong interpersonal skills Analytical and pragmatic problem solving skills Sense of responsibility; initiative, ability to work both independently and in a team Stress tolerance and ability to multi task and work rapidly under pressureµ Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff at all organizational levels as well as with external staff Deadline for applications: 22nd September 2012 (*) There may be certain flexibility on this requirement, but limited to particularly suitable candidates who may not yet be proficient in one of the two languages.
