 The Information Management (IM) department of the European Patent Office (EPO) is responsible for all internal automation services, including the set-up and maintenance of information systems and the development and management of EPO tools. Headed by the Chief Information Officer (CIO), IM provides a centralised and co-ordinated voice on all aspects of automation.
 
 Directorate Corporate Applications (CA) is responsible for the development and maintenance of, and the provision of third-level support for, corporate applications which do not directly support the patent granting administrative process. Its three departments have the following responsibilities:
Finance and HR Applications (FINHR) provides solutions and services for human resources and finance/procurement (mainly based on SAP and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software)
Corporate Central Services Support (CCSS) provides services such as case, document or web content management, questionnaires for corporate business areas (outside FINHR and BITS).
Business Intelligence Technical Services (BITS) provides services such as business intelligence and data warehousing
 
 CA now has a vacancy in Munich for a highly motivated information systems consultant (service design/modelling & definition) who will support its three departments in the harmonised implementation of the new service catalogue and a service-driven automation and delivery process.
Main duties
 
 The information systems consultant will
focus on designing, setting up/implementing and providing a stringent, comprehensive and consistent service-driven automation and delivery process, with comprehensive service description, organisation and service level agreements for existing and new services
support service owners and managers in CA in establishing a service model for the existing service catalogue entries for CA, including service definition, as well as service management/reporting and models for the cross-unit co-ordination of the service concept
work in close co-operation with
 Enterprise Architecture & Innovation (EAI), which is responsible for the service catalogue
 CIO Office/IM Efficiency
 various departments within the Service Integration Management (SIM) directorate
co-ordinate with further IM units on service modelling, namely Application Management and Infrastructure & Operations (for operational level agreement from PD Service Operations based on service level agreements)
ensure consistent training, handover and documentation for staff members from CA's three departments
The ideal candidate will have
at least 5 years' proven experience of service modelling and service definition
experience in ITIL service delivery, with solid knowledge of ITIL standard development (ITIL v3 certification)
substantial experience in the field of service level agreements and operational level agreements
substantial experience in the field of IT services in complex and large environments
strong skills in training, documentation and organisation
good communication and interpersonal skills and a good network of contacts within and outside IM
the ability to multi-task, plan, organise and prioritise
 
 It will also be an advantage to have
knowledge of some PM methodology such as PRINCE2 or Scrum
experience in service model design for mixed sourcing models (in-house, SaaS, PaaS, etc.)
 
 Additionally, candidates should have
very strong analytical skills and the ability to think strategically, as well as good planning skills and the ability to co-ordinate high-level plans with stakeholders
strong interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation
excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills in English and German, both oral and written (French would be an advantage).

a proactive and forward-thinking approach, initiative, the ability to develop new solutions, and a willingness to take personal responsibility

Minimum requirements
 
 Diploma of completed studies at master's level or - in exceptional cases - equivalent professional experience. Excellent knowledge of one official language (English, French or German) and ability to understand the other two.
 
 Citizenship of one of the member states of the European Patent Organisation.
Salary and benefits
 
 The EPO offers competitive salaries, an excellent social package, and varied work in a modern international environment. The net (basic) monthly salary* for this vacancy ranges from EUR 5 223 to 7 396, depending on experience. In addition, depending on their personal circumstances, EPO staff may be entitled to relocation benefits and various allowances (e.g. household, dependant's, childcare, education, expatriation, installation, rent and language allowance).
Process and timeline
 
 The successful candidate will be selected on the basis of qualifications and relevant experience, supplemented as appropriate by interviews, tests and/or a personality questionnaire. It is intended to hold the interviews in week 15 in Munich.
