Systems Engineering Branch (SEB) is responsible for the direction and management of the activities related to the SoS architecture and requirements for the BMD programme. The development and maintenance of the Architecture Definition Document (ADD), the Architecture Requirements Specification (ARS) and of the Interface Control/Definition Documents (ICD/IDDs) for the interfaces between the various systems in the BMD SoS Architecture and for the BMD capability at the SoS level. SUMMARY The engineer in this post will act as a bridge and translator for hardware and network components between architectural system descriptions up to the Enterprise level (as validated by the Enterprise Architect) and to the detailed system designs and their implementations. He/she, although organically in OTD, will also maintain a functional working relationship with the Enterprise Architect. The BPMB will ensure that his/her assignments in activities and/or projects are prioritized in support of OTD or the Enterprise Architecture team (“dual-hatted” post). 2. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Essential Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or IT Engineering or a Bachelor of Science degree coupled with extensive experience in Network and Systems Administration. The Training Division (TD) ensures the ability to deliver combined and joint training, both static and distributed as well as single- and multi-echelon, for tactical and operational level headquarters, staffs and forces over the full spectrum of NATO operations, from Pre-Deployment Training for current operations, Corps and Army level exercise at the Operational level and Joint Force Command Level Exercises. Collects and validates systems and services performance metrics, optimizing performance. Assists Service Delivery Manager in the creation and execution of Service Improvement Plans (SIPs). Collects, analyses and forwards proposals for required service and technical underpinning support contracts. Supports in the analysis of incident/problem patterns and developments spare parts kit and recover action plans, which minimize downtime of services. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST Ensures that all required steps and actions are taken to resolve incidents and customer requests following the established models, outlined by the Service Delivery Manager. These actions are in concert with additional support tiers including: Service Desk, Systems Section, Information Assurance and on a case-by-case basis including the appropriate Engineering section, with an overall aim of providing timely 1st, 2nd and when possible 3rd level support for networking and communication services, and their inherent associated technical assets (e.g. routers, switches, crypto Manager, etc.). Will also maintain, update and modify network management and monitoring services, and support Networking and Communication Technicians in planning both Incident and Problem Management functions based on scheduled and systematic analysis reviews. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS The incumbent may be required to undertake operational deployments and/or Temporary Duty (TDY) assignments both within and without NATO's boundaries. The Service Desk operation consists of a combination of Service Desk members: Operators, Server/Application Specialists and Network Specialists. In a combined effort, these members provide support to services and systems on a 24/7 basis, thus are subject to on-call and overtime duties after normal working hours.
