The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking for its Corporate Services Directorate - Information Technology Services – Transversal Services Department – Information and Reporting Division

at its headquarters in Luxembourg:

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st February 2017)

Objective of the traineeship
Within the IT Transversal Services Department and the Information and Reporting (IR) Division, the role of the “Admin Suite” Unit is to provide and maintain a broad set of applications services and related projects.

The Subversion platform is a software versioning and revision control system, its primary goal is to maintain current and historical versions of files such as source code, web pages, and documentation related to IT tools and projects.
The platform is managed by the Admin Suite Unit (for infrastructure and access management) and the service is provided to all IT development teams across all departments within IT.

The objective of the traineeship will be to provide support to Admin Suite Unit and to perform technical tasks related to the migration and update of the current Subversion platform.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Head of Unit the trainee main tasks will be to:

Evaluate the current setup of the existing platform
Create a capacity plan forecasting the eventual evolution
Create a migration plan
Configure the new environment
Asses the integration with an existing directory server
Define and execute migration tests
Update documentations and procedures
Perform the actual migration
Update and enhance the operational tools
Academic qualifications and professional skills

University degree (or final years) in Computer Science or equivalent
Knowledge of Linux Operating System
Knowledge of Apache Webserver
Knowledge of Subversion platform
Understanding of development life cycle
Understanding of versioning solutions
Excellent verbal and written English
Good to advanced knowledge of MS Office software, in particular Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Good written communication skills (drafting documents, oral presentations, conducting user test situations)
Capacity to plan, organise and prioritise own work and to identify potential issues, attentive to detail, disciplined
A delivery focused attitude to meet demanding deadlines in close cooperation with others
