Ενα νέο σημαντικό άρθρο από τον Mark στο οποίο αναλύει ένα case που αντιμετωπίσανε στο Microsoft Support και αφορούσε πελάτη που ανάφερε ότι το Outlook γινόταν hang σε Exchange Users μετά από 15 min. The Compound Case of the Outlook Hangs Για το troubleshooting και την επίλυση του case χρησιμοποιήθηκαν τα εξής tools : - Performance Monitor - Sysinternals ProcDump - Debugging Tools Το πρόβλημα στο Outlook αρχικά εκτιμήθηκε ότι οφειλόταν σε ένα Symantec Antivirus και επιλύθηκε εν μέρει με patch του προιόντος. Στην συνέχεια ξαναεμφανίστηκε και μετά από ανάλυσει απο Performance Monitor των CPU spikes που προκαλούσε το Store.exe του Exchange και την ανάλυση του store.exe process dump procdump.exe -n 20 -s 10 -c 75 -u store.exe c:\dumps\store_75pc_10sec.dmp απο WinDg Καταλήξανε στο συμπέρασμα ότι το παραπάνω Stack Frame (EcFindRow function) δημιουργούσε τα CPU Spikes του Store.exe και οφειλόταν σε κάποια μεγάλα exchange database queries. Αυτά τα μεγάλα database queries εμφανίζονται σε Exchange που περιέχουν Inboxs με παρα πολλά items per folder. Χρησιμοποιώντας το shell script που περιγράφετε στο άρθρο : Finding High Item Count Folders Using the Exchange Management Shell βρήκαν τα items per folder per mailbox στον Exchange και συνέστησαν στους Users να μειώσουν τo μέγεθος των folders . Ετσι το πρόβλημα επιλύθηκε. Τα limits που υπάρχουν στους Exchange για τα items per folder είναι Version Folder Item Limit Exchange 2000/2003 5,000 Exchange 2007 20,000 Exchange 2010 100,000
