Description:

The NCI Agency was formed in 2012 with the 24/7 mission of connecting the Alliance by, defending its networks, providing critical CIS capabilities to NATO, and the top priority of supporting NATO operations. We offer our interns hands-on experience in all areas of study including engineering, human resources, communications, and computer science.

As an intern, you’ll have the chance to learn from subject matter experts, and the opportunity to work on projects that are integral to the operation of the Alliance.

With this opportunity we are looking for an intern in Mons who is willing to step up to the challenge of working alongside the routing and switching engineering team delivering services to customers every day.

Internship description

As part of the routing and switching engineering team you will be required to work closely with the engineers as they design, operate, and maintain multiple NATO networks in the 28 NATO nations and beyond.

You will assist the engineering team with:

initial 1st level fault resolution and tracking of incidents and problems as they enter to the engineering team;

the configuration and preparation of the test and reference facility for testing scenarios in accordance with a plan;

logistic activities to include the testing, preparation, or inventory of network equipment.

 

Who are we looking for?

 

You will be currently studying towards a university-level degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications Technician, or other related field or be recent university graduate of one of those disciplines (degree obtained within the last 12 months).

 

You have obtained or desiring to obtain Network+, CCENT, ICND, or CCNA or higher certification.

 

You will have an entry level knowledge implementing and operating LAN and WAN technologies and ability to utilise web based applications and standard office automation products such as Microsoft Office, BMC ITSM.

 

Programming knowledge and/or experience in scripting languages such as PERL, EXPECT, Python, or TCL is an asset.

Language skills:

Most of the work of the NCI Agency is conducted in English therefore a thorough knowledge of English, both written and spoken, is essential.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality: application is limited to nationals of NATO member nations.
Qualification: you must be currently studying towards a university-level degree or be recent university graduates (degree obtained within the last 12 months).
Language: you must be proficient in the use of the English language, both written and oral.

 

Compensation

 

You will be compensated at a fixed rate of €800 per month, based on 38 hours work per week. The Agency will also compensate travel expenses incurred upon taking up and returning to their home country upon completion of the internship (up to a maximum of €1000 in total).

 

Duration of Internship

 

In principle, internships will last between 3 to 10 months and may commence at any point during the calendar year.
