Description:

The NCI Agency was formed in 2012 with the 24/7 mission of connecting the Alliance by, defending its networks, providing critical CIS capabilities to NATO, and the top priority of supporting NATO operations. We offer our interns hands-on experience in all areas of study including engineering, human resources, communications, and computer science.

As an intern, you’ll have the chance to learn from subject matter experts, and the opportunity to work on projects that are integral to the operation of the Alliance.

 

With this opportunity we are offering 3 internships, two in The Hague (cyber security and mobile/embedded development) and one in Brunssum (Security Analyst), for the area of security of computer system information.

 

Internship description

 

As Security Analyst Intern you will be part of a team responsible for:

##Planning and execution of all engineering aspects of COMPUSEC functions, including the preparation, maintenance and implementation of tools for Defensive Information Operations, CERT Support activities, Boundary Protection Devices, Antivirus Prevention and for online WEB support;

##Managing and advising on the selection, design, justification, implementation and operation of Information security controls and management strategies to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, availability, accountability and relevant compliance of information systems.

As Cyber Security or mobile/embedded development Intern you will be part of a team responsible for:

##Security of Smart Spaces - assessment of security challenges related to possible use of smart technologies in future work space of the NCI Agency;

##Configuration and installation of smart space environment;

##Vulnerability assessment of embedded systems and Internet-of-Things;

##Development of security audit & assessment scripts;

##Development of mobile applications for Android or iOS platform.

 

Who are we looking for?

 

You will be currently studying towards a university-level degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, Information Security or Cyber Security or be recent university graduates in one of those disciplines (degree obtained within the last 12 months).

 

As Security Analyst Intern you will also have some knowledge and/or experience of the followings:

##technical security in a CIS environment;

##risk assessment methods and risk mitigation;

##diagnosing deficiencies in networks and associated equipment;

##computer forensic;

##system administration and security hardening of UNIX, Linux or Windows operating systems.

As Cyber Security or mobile/embedded development Intern you will also have:

##Good knowledge of Linux and development for Android or iOS;

##Basic knowledge of web development (HTMLS, JavaScript);

##Basic knowledge of programming in at least one programming language: CIC++, C#, Java, Python;

##Experience with embedded platforms and sensors;

##Experience with pentest and vulnerability assessment tools (e.g. Kali Linux).

Language skills:

Most of the work of the NCI Agency is conducted in English therefore a thorough knowledge of English, both written and spoken, is essential.

Eligibility Criteria

##Nationality: application is limited to nationals of NATO member nations.

##Qualification: you must be currently studying towards a university-level degree or be recent university graduates (degree obtained within the last 12 months).

##Language: you must be proficient in the use of the English language, both written and oral.

 

Compensation

 

You will be compensated at a fixed rate of €800 per month, based on 38 hours work per week. The Agency will also compensate travel expenses incurred upon taking up and returning to their home country upon completion of the internship (up to a maximum of €1000 in total).

 

Duration of Internship

 

In principle, internships will last between 3 to 10 months and may commence at any point during the calendar year.
