Description:

Do you have broad and sound technical knowledge of IT systems with a minimum of 4 years general experience in System Administration of Microsoft Windows Servers, Active Directory, Microsoft SQL Databases and Oracle Databases?

Do you have experience in administration and troubleshooting of Microsoft Office SharePoint Servers’ farms?

 

If the answer is yes, this position is IDEAL for you.

 

As IS Administrator you will be working within the Functional Services Section. This Section is responsible for installing and maintaining mission specific functional software applications, databases and information exchange systems.

 

Role responsibilities:

 

As IS Administrator you will be responsible for the day to day system administration of assigned Functional Services and databases. Under the direction of Head (Functional Services), you will perform duties such as the following:

##Responsible for day to day System Administration (SA) of all assigned Functional Services, Database systems (Microsoft SQL Servers and Oracle DBs) supporting the Customer HQs, to include managing the DB Server’s Operating System;
##Responsible for the System Administration of other Information Exchange and Collaboration Systems (Microsoft Office SharePoint Portals) assigned;
##Apply Functional Services and Databases’ patches and make necessary hardware and software changes to maintained servers;
##Respond to Customer Support Centre requests for assistance and take appropriate actions to troubleshoot, to include giving guidance and assisting personnel on remotely accessed Functional Services;
##Assist Head (Functional Services) in coordination with supported HQs Functional Service Managers to ensure supported functions services are providing desired services in a timely, reliable and responsive manner;
##Establish, supervise and execute proper preventive maintenance plans;
##Ensure all Configuration Control data is reported to IS Services section in a timely manner;
##Provide assistance and technical advice to other staff of the NCI Agency CSU Bydgoszcz for all aspects of systems and services supported by the cell;
##Maintain a close liaison with other technicians and engineers in the NCI Agency CSU Bydgoszcz;
##Stay abreast of technological developments relevant to the area of work;
##Deputize for higher grade staff;
##Performs other duties as may be required.

Person specification

Qualifications required:

To be eligible to apply for the post of IS Administrator, it is essential that you hold, as a minimum, Vocational training at a higher technical level in a relevant discipline. A higher educational qualification but less practical experience or a less formal educational background combined with particularly relevant practical experience may also be acceptable.

Experience required:

It is essential that the ideal candidate holds, as a minimum, eight (8) years of relevant experience with a minimum of 4 years general experience in System Administration of Microsoft Windows Servers, Active Directory, Microsoft SQL Databases and Oracle Databases.

It is considered highly desirable if you have ITIL certifications, Microsoft certifications (preferably MCDBA or MCSA) or/and university degree in a field related to the function of the post.

Within this it is necessary that you have extensive experience or technical knowledge of:
##administration and troubleshooting of the Microsoft Office SharePoint Servers’ farms;
##IT systems;
##diagnosing deficiencies in networks and associated equipment;
##configuration and customization of the Microsoft Office suite, e-mail clients, Web browsers and Web content management.

Preferably you will also have experience with:
##ITIL Service Management framework;
##Oracle Database servers;
##Project Management;
##System Analysis methodologies;
##DB design and management;
##UNIX system administration;
##supporting systems and applications in virtualized environments;
##working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements.

Travel:

You may be required to undertake duty travel to operational theatres inside and outside NATO boundaries.

Language skills:

Most of the work of the NCI Agency is conducted in the English language, therefore a thorough knowledge of English, both written and spoken, is essential.
