As System Manager you will, in coordination with the Core Enterprise Services Service Line, set up and maintain the CTX application services: reference environment; development and test environment; and that are provided from centralised data centres or at local sites. You will also be supporting the technical configuration, testing, documentation and training of the CTX application services. Role Responsibilities This is a position within the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency), an organization of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).This post is assigned to the Education and Training Service Line (E&T SL) of the NCI Agency’s Directorate of Application Services (DAS).In the DAS, the (E&T SL) is responsible for the planning, management and delivery of individual training. The Service Line is also responsible for the design, management and operation of the application services that support the training organisations in the NATO Command Structure in planning, preparing, conducting and evaluating collective training events and exercises. This post is part of the Collective Training and eXercise (CTX) group which is responsible for the collective training and exercise application services. The CTX application services are employed to support most NATO exercises and in particular the NATO Computer Assisted eXercises (CAX) that use simulations to represent battlespace. Under the direction of the Head of the Collective Training and eXercise Group, you will perform duties such as the following: In coordination with the Core Enterprise Services Service Line: Set up and maintain the CTX application services reference environment; Set up and maintain the CTX application development and test environment; Set up and maintain the CTX application services that are provided from centralised data centres or at local sites. Support the technical configuration, testing, documentation and training of the CTX application services; Support the transition of application services; Support the operation of application services; Support the configuration management of applications according to an ITIL-inspired methodology; Performs other duties as may be required. You may be required to travel for business purposes to NATO, national (NATO and non-NATO) and some Operational facilities (Both Inside and Outside of NATO boundaries). As well as this frequent travel between the NCIA offices may also be required.Person SpecificationQualifications RequiredFor this post it is essential that you hold a higher vocational training in the area of computer science.Experience RequiredIn addition to the higher vocational training, you also have as a minimum, 8 years working experience in job related area. You will also have 3 years working experience as a system manager of: Linux servers; MS Windows 2008 or above servers; Oracle or MS SQLServer servers; MS IIS servers; Virtualised servers using VMware; Source code control servers, preferably MS TFS. In addition to these requirements, it is considered highly desirable if you can display skills, experience and knowledge in any of the following areas: Configuration of active network devices such as routers, managing VLANs; Configuration of firewalls; Configuration and operation of application service monitoring software; Web-based RDP solutions; Working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements.
