RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST: Responsible to the Head Information Assurance & Cyber Defence (IA&CD) for all duties allocated to him/her. Conduct BICES Information Assurance and Cyber Defence activities. 2. DUTIES To carry out tasks in relation to: Analyse log information of BGX operated services to identify potential cyber security related anomalies; Provide assessments and practical solutions for identified security incidents; Support the BICES security incident management process; Support the BICES Patch Management process; Support the development and improvement of BICES Cyber Defence related standard operating procedures; Support the analysis of current and new services/functionalities on BICES with respect to Cyber Defence related requirements; Liaise with ISO technical experts (Technologists, Senior Technicians, Technicians) in support of security incident solving activities; Participate to ISO configuration and implementation activities in the areas of network equipment, firewalls, service guards and host based information assurance components; Conduct vulnerability assessment activities; Support security inspection activities; Implement, maintain and improve Cyber Defence mechanisms; Support any urgent matters. 3. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Essential Minimum 3 years proven experience and knowledge in Information Assurance or Cyber Defence activities. Profound knowledge of Windows and Linux based operating systems. Profound knowledge of the Windows Server Update Service (WSUS). Profound IP based network and router knowledge. Profound knowledge of firewall and intrusion detection technology. Ability to identify and describe computer and network anomalies within a CIS. Ability to understand, assess and solve technical issues. Proven experience with security tools like: firewalls, proxies, guard technology, Snort, Metasploit Framework, OSSIM, NESSUS, OpenVAS, Nmap, Netcat, TCPDump, etc. Proven ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Desirable Detailed knowledge of NATO security policy and supporting directives. Graduation on a technical university. Experience working in a multinational environment. A working knowledge of NATO organisations and procedures. Awareness of best practices/ITIL methodology and its implementation. Knowledge of BICES environment. 4. PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES Personal qualities of tact, judgement and adaptability. A sense of diplomacy and propriety in order to work harmoniously with colleagues, both military and civilian, from nations and from NATO, as well as with staff from private scientific/industrial organisations. 5. LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY Must be fluent orally and in writing in one of the official languages of the Organisation; a working knowledge of the other is desirable. (Note: most of the work, both oral and written, in this post, and in BGX as a whole, is conducted in English). 6. WORKING ENVIRONMENT NATO Class I areas (e.g. server rooms) and normal office environment. However, the incumbent may be required to undertake operational deployments and/or TDY assignments both within and without NATO's boundaries 7. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Some travel is required. 8. CONTRACT Contract to be offered to the successful applicant (if non-seconded): Definite duration contract of three years’ duration. Contract clause applicable: This post is required for a limited period. As employment in this post is of limited duration, the successful applicant will be offered a definite duration contract of three years’ duration. If the successful applicant is seconded from the national administration of one of NATO’s member States, a three years’ definite duration contract will be offered, subject to the agreement of the national authority concerned. Serving staff will be offered a contract in accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations. 9.
