Technical Editor  JOB LOCATION: Microsoft, Athens

Overall objective

• As part of a team of editors, you will be responsible for delivering an exciting and compelling suite of experiences integrated across applications, devices (eg. phones, tablets) the web.
• Curating content and data from high-profile, premium partners, you will delight and excite users to become highly-engaged fans of our service across categories including News, Weather, Sport, Finance, Travel, Food & Drink, Health & Fitness, Entertainment and Cars.
• Working in a flexible shift system (including some weekends), you will deliver a dynamic, updated experience, including breaking news and sport, selecting stories, images and video from partners.
• You will bring a media sensibility and an understanding of Greek and International news, sport and general content and data services to ensure we present a market-leading experience to grow audiences and engage fans.

Key Accountabilities

• Select, curate and deliver a compelling suite of content and data services for apps, web and devices
• Understand and grow audiences to the services through timely, appropriate content and data selection 
• Grow engagement and loyalty with audiences, who will become fans of the services
• Curate News and Sport including writing headlines, selecting and editing images under tight deadlines
• Test and implement new features and functions, including real-time coverage
• Understand and support the requirements of content and data partners
• Adhere to defined, balanced editorial policies and guidelines
• Ensure clear and concise communication with the team and colleagues in international markets

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

•   Knowledge of the media landscape in Greece, leading media publishers, newspapers, magazines,tv and radio stations, web sites and apps on all main platforms (eg. Apple, Android, Windows)
•   Understand what is trending with audiences in Greek and international media, apps and the web
•   Skilled selection of multi-media content reflecting day-to-day events eg. News and Sport
•   Experienced understanding of topical, news-worthy stories and features in Greece and globally
•   Able to respond quickly to breaking stories and audience trends, writing impactful headlines
•   Experience in identifying and editing engaging images (eg. photo, infographics) to promote stories
•   Knowledge of apps, web and devices, understanding of competitors’ strengths and weaknesses
•   Demonstrable ability to operate under pressure and change priorities as stories develop
•   Knowledge and understanding of audience statistics, metrics, engagement
•   Performance marketing in media companies with focus on content monetization
•   Pay per click (PPC) campaigns: previous experience in managing performance based investments (SEM, performance marketing, RTB)
•   Mobile marketing with focus on app downloads
•   Affiliate marketing

Technical/Functional Skills

•   Adobe Photoshop - intermediate to expert level
•   Use of digital photo libraries 
•   Experience of using CMS
•   Experience of using and understanding audience tracking systems
•   Expertise in MS software and apps/web data analytics
•   Very good knowledge of written and spoken English language
